The co-operation agreement
with some agricultural businesses, consolidated for many years,
allows to obtain at each grape harvest, a selection of the best
grapes, from vines planted between 30 and 50 years ago, producing
a low quantity (in many cases lower than 5 tons per hectare) but
of an average high quality, to which heavy pruning and appropriate
grape thinning have contributed during the most prolific years.
The vines are located
in some of the most important areas in Monferrato: the Grignolino
grapes come from the historical "Vineries" of Portacomaro, the
Dolcetto grapes from the Ovada areas, the Barbera grapes are produced
not only in Portacomaro, but also in Agliano, Vigliano, Costigliole
d'Asti and Castelletto Merli.
The big cellar, recently
restored, is located in Portacomaro Stazione, easy to reach following
the sign on the main road from Asti to Casale.
Moreover, it has a
large room with an elegant ceiling in facing bricks, where the
most important wines are refined in big barrels and in small oak
barriques.
The modern technology
of cold stabilization and of sterilized bottling by micro-filtering
contribute towards top-quality wines.
The production and
the refining of the wines are supervised by Mr. Mario Redoglia,
the Astesan oenologist of Agriconsult, expert wine maker who controls,
with professional accuracy, even the agronomic part of the vineyards.
In the enclosed cards you will find in detail all the technical
features of the wines.
