January 2002
An update on the constant quality developments of the wines produced by the winery.
Following on from September 2001, when our Barbera d'Asti Doc 2000 received an award in the Douja d'Or National Wine Competition, and the Barbera d'Asti Superiore Doc 1999 Balmèt was selected for the Vini d'Autore collection, our successes continued in November, at the Wine Fair at Lingotto in Turin. This event saw our smart, and very popular, booth attracting many highly qualified visitors, interested in all the various different types of wines we produce.
And there at the Wine Fair, a look through Veronelli's 2002 Wine Guide gave us the pleasure of seeing that three more of our wines, and a detailed description of the company, had been added to last year's entry.
We were also invited to present the Barbera del Monferrato "Il Giullare" at the Salotto di Papillon in the historic residence of Stupinigi, by the well known wine journalist Paolo Massobrio. Massobrio is an illustrious fan of this wine, as well as our other wines he has reviewed for his 'Guida Critica e Golosa'.
The Barbera del Monferrato "Il Giullare" also scored top marks in its category in the Espresso magazine's new Guide to Italian Wines, edited by expert journalist Alessandro Masnaghetti, while the other wines of our production which were sampled by the author were also given very interesting reviews.
We can modestly assume that these results show we are heading in the right direction with our wines, with our constant work on the essential sensory qualities of our production: the genuinity of the product; the immediate sensations which come across at the first taste of wines which are full of life, well balanced, and genuine; and the lack of peaks of acidity, which would mean the wines were not ready to be drunk, and above all would detract from their quality and drinking pleasure.
All of this further motivates us to increase our commitment to quality, while also bearing in mind that we must continue to merit the recognition for the best quality to price ratio that we have been accorded by Paolo Massobrio and many other experts in the sector.
Lastly, we would like to announce that two new, very interesting, wines are shortly to be launched. The first is a barrique-aged Chardonnay, the second a Passito di Ruchè which is one of its kind. We trust that these new products will excite considerable interest in the press, the trade and above all with the consumers.
